What is a computer?
Computer is an electronic device which can be programmed to perform various numerical and non-numerical tasks. It accepts raw input data and processes with a computer program. (A computer program is a set of instruction). The word “Computer” was derived from latin word “Computare”; it means “to calculate”. A computer contains various integrated software and hardware components. These components can be used to execute various applications and to provide solutions. A computer is also equipped with a memory which can be used to store data such as programs and processing results. Physical components of a computer such as circuits, wires, hard disks, disk drivers and etc are called hardware. On the other hand, data and programs are called software.
